The Java Server Faces Jumpstarter book is written and actively maintained by John Ferguson Smart.

John has been involved in the IT industry since 1991, and in J2EE development since 1999. His specialities are J2EE architecture and development and optimizing the software development lifecycle. He also dabbles in IT project management, including offshore project management. He has a wide experience in open source Java technologies. He has worked on many large-scale J2EE projects for government and business involving international and offshore teams,

John also spends his spare time writing technical articles in the J2EE field for sites such as Javaworld, Java.net, OnJava.com, DevX.com and Informit.com.

John occasionally blogs on the java.net and JRoller blog sites. He is also currently working on a book called Java Power Tools, which discusses a range of (mostly) open source tools that can improve the software development process.
